Maxine Dalton

I first came to Madison County in 1990 as an AT Thru hiker, walking down Bridge Street in Hot Springs with my husband, Jack. We bought a place on Spring Creek in 1993 and I retired here from the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC in 2003.

Since living on Spring Creek, I have had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer in a Spring Creek preschool, the middle school, the high school as a CIS volunteer, and the first grade at Hot Springs Elementary where I have served for the past 5 years.

In each setting, I have been so impressed with the dedication and commitment of the teachers who prepare our children to thrive in the world. And as a volunteer I have been struck by the need of some children in each class to receive extra time and focus and attention. I am honored to serve on the CIS Board in support of the staff and community members who provide that extra time, focus, and attention – moving each child closer to discovering his or her potential, beginning with a high school diploma.
