COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF MADISON COUNTY

Jump Start 2014: Information Sheet

WHAT: A one-day summer program designed to introduce incoming 6th grade students to Madison Middle School BEFORE the start of school. Students will take part in a variety of fun activities, learn about lockers (and how to open them), and the school’s rules and procedures. The emphasis of the day will be on fun, learning, and best of all, IT’S FREE!

WHEN: We will be offering the same program on two different days. Students can register for only one of these sessions. To make this program available to the widest group of incoming sixth graders we have scheduled both sessions for the week just prior to the first day of school. The sessions are limited to 40 students, and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. The session dates are:

Session 1 ~ Aug. 13, 2014  Wednesday / Session 2 ~ Aug. 14,  2014  Thursday

TIME: 8am – 4:00pm

Students who need to come early or stay late will be allowed to play games or relax in the gym starting at 7am and ending at  5pm. The extended hours are to allow for working parents to be able to have their child participate. This program is designed for a full day (8am – 4pm) and we ask participants to be present for the full day.

WHERE: Madison Middle School. We will start and end each day in the gym. Please look for signs.

SNACKS AND FOOD: We will be providing lunch, snacks and drinks throughout the day, all at no cost. Your student may choose to bring their own lunch which is fine.

CLOTHES: We will be walking and in the gym all day so please wear tennis shoes and play clothes.

***Helping parents get ready***

This year Jump Start will coincide with the Middle School’s 6th Grade Orientation which will be held on the same days from 4pm to 6pm. This will allow for a “one stop shopping” experience where students can come to Jump Start and Parent/Guardians can get the information they need and pay fees (etc.), when they come to pick up Jump Start participants.

****All Participants must be preregistered ***
